If you are the kind of person who likes to travel hundreds of miles - to take pictures of ground nut offerings to monkeys at a zoo; house-boating is not for you! If you like to take snaps besides medieval sculptures – feeling a kind of euphoria and content - don’t think about backwater cruise!
Instead if you are someone who is bored with the fast-life, concrete jungle and management jargon and someone who finds recreation by just watching the nature and fish in water, do try the house boat experience.
I hope I am not sounding nonsensical by trying to explain the unexplainable!
Most of the time travel agents show illuminating, flashy things on the catalogue but when you actually see the place it will be a totally different experience!
So the holy life saving pond of yester years, is nothing but a waterless hole with tadpoles. And the king’s winter resting palaces are nothing but dog sheds!
But cocohol (my travel agent) is not like that; in software terms, the whole package is WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get!). The whole experience was more than expected and more than promised!
If you are like me who would like to eat idli or vada sambaar for breakfast instead of croissants; may be you can wind up the whole thing in 15,000 RS for a couple.

The following are our comments on our recent holiday
Itinerary - We found this extremely well planned and enjoyable. It was arranged as a very logical touring route which enabled us to see a great deal of Kerala in a very limited time. We found the journeys very interesting and enjoyed them as much as the destinations.
Transport - From being met at the airport to returning there at the end of our holiday the transport arrangements were excellent. Mr. Biju Kumar was a very good driver; proficient, considerate and very safe. He was always punctual when meeting us at pre-agreed times and a good source of local knowledge.
Visits - All the arranged and suggested visits were of great interest and enjoyment and enabled us to obtain a good insight into the traditions and culture of Kerala. Biju Kumar even managed to arrange our elephant ride at a site where there was a recently born baby elephant, which was amazing for us to see. He was also flexible with his approach enabling us to divert from the schedule to accommodate some shopping.
Accommodation- All the hotels had very good rooms. The dining rooms varied from good to excellent and so we chose to have all our evening meals at the hotels. One note of slight disappointment was that Fort Cochin seemed to be dominated by western, mainly Italian, menus. However the Rossitta Wood Castle hotel was a fascinating venue for our last two nights.
The Kettuvallam was a unique and relaxing experience during which time we were extremely well looked after by the crew.
Summary - We had a memorable holiday and if we return to Kerala we would definitely use the services of Cocohol again.
Thank you for your flexible and attentive service both during our planning of the holiday and during our visit to Kerala.

“Cocohol's services are excellent from the time of my arrival at the airport. It is my pleasure to take this opportunity to appreciate Cocohol on their superb assistance. I have been to India for the 22nd consecutive time and for the first time I got a warm welcome at the Delhi Airport. The cricket package, which I have chosen, covers all major matches and it gave me the opportunity to travel across North India. India is a second home to me and I would like to stay back here”.

“Excellent services from Cocohol during my stay in Kerala, and the assistance you provided were awesome”.

First of all thanks for the great trip you organized for me and also for the delayed feedback. It will certainly be a trip my wife and I will
remember for life.
Also, the courteous tour guide Biju was outstanding.Every location was great in its own way. It had the serenity and the tranquility I was in search of. We did not want the trip to get over, but as every good thing has to come to an end, the trip also did.I would like to give my comments on the locations and the properties we stayed in.
1) Poovar Island resort:
In a nut shell this place is simply out of the world. The beauty of this place is the floating cottages. I would recommend this place for maximum 2-3 days as after that it might get a bit boring for honeymooners. The food and service was decent. The rooms were clean. This place is good only if you are staying in floating cottage. Also, this place might be a bit high priced during the peak season.
2) Taj Varkala:
Great service and great food. Good place to relax. Excellent rooms and really courteous staff.
Could have been more better. I guess few other houseboats were more equipped and had better decor. The décor was good but not great. The real fun was going through the rice fields with water all around.
4) The Sienna Village:
Good recommendation. Amazing place. Good food and service.
One thing which I could have avoided was houseboat and the amount of
travel involved. Maybe stay at munnar should have been for one more day and we hardly had time in munnar.
Overall a great honeymoon. Thanks for that

I must say I really enjoyed the holiday. I think we all did and especially my dad. I must say the scenary was very beautiful. It was filled with coconut trees, mangroves, lakes full with different kind of trees and plants. We did not have any problems while on the holiday. Everything was going to plan and we had enough time to roam around the town and just mainly relax. The hotels were great and we had no problems where we stayed. I must say we all experience a good time on the house boat. I don't think will ever forget that. Just a phew hiccups that my mum talk to you about on the phone. They were the long stay at cocobay resort and Thekkady. But apart from that we really enjoyed ourselves. It will be a great pleasure of mine to be sending some photos for you to put up on your website.
Thank you for everything we are grateful for your help through out the whole way.

Doug and I are still recovering from the hectic schedule in India
Altogether the trip was good.
Here are the highlights:
1. Vythiri resorts was awesome. Thanks for the excellent choice in Vayanadu.
2. Actually all the places chosen were great. Doug and his mom really liked the house boat and the resort in Thekkady.
3. The driver on the second trip was on time always. The driver on the first trip was also always on time except for when he picked us up from South Park which delayed the initial trip by about 2 hours.
4. The car on the second trip was much better than that of the first one as the A/C was working good and also it was more comfortable ride.
5. We would like to thank Renjith for making sure that the second trip was much better than the first one.
Sravasti Tendulkar , Bombay , India
We spent our holiday at Kerala this winter (Nov-dec 2005) . It was one of our best holidays, thanks to the arrangements made by Cocohol and in particular Mr. Renjith Kumar.
He was constantly in touch with us right from the planning stage to the end of the trip and made himself and his team available to us 24X7. He first gauged our requirements and suggested locations and properties accordingly. And, needless to add, the arrangements were perfect for us. Right from Munnar, where we stayed at Siena Village to Kumarakom (Cocobay Resorts).
We not only liked the landscaping of Siena Village but also the services and the friendly nature of the staff. In particular, we would like to mention Mr. Joseph, who was fabulous in suggesting out-of-the-world, mouth-watering authentic non-veg. Kerala dishes. The trip around Munnar was also lovely, with the awesome speed-boat ride in one of the man-made lakes (great views), the elephant ride just outside the lake (though not value for money for a 15 minute ride, maybe we should have negotiated it!), beautiful nursary with lovely flowers, spice shops, tea plantations and small restaurant that served delicious dosas.
Then we moved on to Tekkady, where we were put up in a plantation resort. While the resort was fabulous and just what we wanted, we found the rooms lacking in size and also smelled a bit. Perhaps we could have been given the cottages, which appeared to be bigger and smell-free. The tour around the plantation was absolutely great. The food was also very good, but not as good as Siena Village ! The service was a bit slow! The trip to Periyar lake was wonderful, though we did not manage to see elephants!
Then we moved onto the famed backwaters of Kerala. It was breath-taking to say the least! However, the houseboat was not upto the mark. It was very small and again very smelly. But the cook more than made up for it with his out-of-the-world delicacies and presentation! Maybe he has prior training from a hotel management institute or just natural flair! We were then dropped off to Cocobay Resort at Kumarakom. Its absolutely fabulous! Its a one-year old resort built in Kerala style. The lawn has lovely terra-cotta lamps and the coconut trees too have terra-cotta lamps hanging from them, which look magical at night when they are all lit up! the food was good but not exceptional...especially after the house-boat food lingering on our taste-buds! The swimming pool was fabulous as welll! The resort has been landscaped well, which gives it a very open look and feel and does not make you feel like you are in a cluttered city...far from it! And how can we forget the hammocks! The resient manager was also very informative and helpful. We liked the resort so much that we cancelled our stay in Kochi and extended another day at Kumarakom. Last, but not the least, the sunset from the resort was one of the best we have ever seen!! One cannot describe in words the magnificience and sheer beauty of the sunset! Kumarakom was heavenly and Cocobay was the most significant contributor to that!
so, thanks to Cocohol & Mr. Kumar for making our long-awaited family holiday to Kerala a memorable one!!
I have already recommended you to several of my friends and acquaintances !

Dhanshri and I are extremely grateful to you for making our Honeymoon tour really special and memorable.
Hotel selections and itinerary planning was very thoughtful,
we enjoyed splendid views of Munnar tea estates, spice gardens of Thekkaddy, traditional Kathakali show and above all, a day on Houseboat in Kerala backwaters.
We shall remember tasty spiced fish curry, down to earth, courteous and cooperative nature of all supportive staff like Mr. Thomas, house boat staffs of COCO , Mr. Binoy, Mr. Salim, Mr. Pithambaram, forever.
Thank you once again for everything. Your customer focussed approach is commendable.
Shall surely recommend your name to others to have good experience like us.

We had a very relaxing holiday, although we were advised that it would be the monsoon season and not the best time to visit. The main purpose of our trip was to experience the ayurvedic massages and totally unwind . We had such a relaxing holiday and for once we got exactly what we expected. We had been really overworked and totally stressed out the massages were just the answer to all our aches and pains. In addition the food was simply divine. We also spent a few days visiting the beautiful temples and visited the museum especially to see Raja Ravi Vermas paintings as my husband had heard a lot about them and we were truly impressed. Overall we did have a wonderful trip really appreciate all the arrangements made by Cocohol . The personalized service that we received from Cocohol was amazing. We do want to return to Kerala for the same experience atleast after 2 years if not the next.
John and Catrina Fulmar, London, UK
Kerala was an absolutely fantastic place. We had been to Goa a couple of times earlier. Kerala offers a different kind of experience. The most enchanting was our stay at Kumarakom and the houseboat. Kumarakom is one of the most relaxing places I have ever been to. Houseboat has some scope of improved, especially on the need for mosquito nets. Other thing we liked was the spicy Kerala cuisine. We tried lot of traditional dishes including having toddy with fish fry in one of the local shop in Alleppy. On the whole, an experience to remember. Thanks to the professional service provided by Cocohol representatives in UK and in India.
Hitesh Shroff, Pune
During the initial planning of the tour, the tour manager was very informative about the kind of places worth visiting and places not really worth visiting.I had a time crunch for the holidays (7days & 6 nights), considering that the tour was planned just right.
The tour gave us enough time to rest before we started for another destination. We were traveling after every 2 days for a new destination. Also, we got enough time at each destination to be able to see all the places in and around the destination. The tour manager was flexible enough to plan the tour and make the changes in the Itinerary as and when needed.
The properties/hotels where we had our bookings were also pretty good. Although there was some issues while check-in at two hotels but those were taken care of later. The ambience and the services provided by the properties were first class.
Through out the tour, our tour manager was in touch with us on a daily basis, just to know whether everything was going as planned and to ensure that we did not face any issues anywhere. This is one thing I liked most about the services. It might have costed him some amount for call charges, but the gesture of calling us almost everyday to ensure that we did not have any problems, is something I really appreciate. Effectively, even in a place where we did not know the local language at all, still we never felt lost. The tour operator was very helpful.
The transport during the whole tour was very well planned, safe and the driver was also very co-operative and helpful. Finally, A special word of Thanks to COCOHOL for planning the beautiful tour and ensuring that the tour was completed as planned. We really enjoyed the tour to the fullest.
Looking forward to more tours with COCOHOL in the future.

We thoroughly enjoyed our relaxed holiday at Kovalam in Kerala. We (a group of eight) found the backwater cruise great fun. The sights during the backwater cruise were breathtaking. This was a trip of a lifetime!
All our arrangements including transportation were made by Cocohol, they kept up their 48 hour response time as promised and were very professional yet kept the personal touch. Overall we were very impressed with the meticulous planning and execution of our trip by Cocohol.
We are sure to be here again.

Your representative was very good in understanding the requirement. He was prompt in replying to the mails and he followed up well for the same.
He was in constant touch with me and also provided us all the updates after Tsunami.
In fact we were in a dilemma to go ahead with our Kerala trip. He provided the right updates and we went ahead with the honeymoon trip.
We had a fabulous time in Kerala. The hotels booked were good. The drivers provided for the trip were good and understanding. The most interesting part of our trip was the stay at Carmelia Resort in Thekkadi and stay in Kumarakom. The best part of the tour was going around the backwaters on a houseboat. That was truly awesome!!!
The services offered right from arrival to departure were very good. Looking forward to availing your facilities once again.

It was an amazing vacation for us in Kovalam, thanks to Cocohol! The Cocohol team was extremely professional and took care of all the details. In fact, the local representative even came to our resort in Kovalam to check in on us and make sure that everything was going well. I was a bit worried since this was the first trip to India for my husband's family, but all the arrangements were so immaculate - from the hotel recommendations to transportation to the back waters trip - that all of us enjoyed ourselves thoroughly and even wanted to stay back for a few extra days. I hope to be able to work with Cocohol again to plan our next vacation!"
